On Saturday, Nov. 10 various Cub Scout Packs and Boy Scout troops will be placing Scouting for Food bags on doorsteps in the local community. There are instructions on the bag to fill them with canned goods and leave them on the porch (or somewhere else that is visible) on Saturday, Nov. 17 by 9 a.m. The Scouts will circle back and pick up the bags, then bring them to various drop-off locations.
One of the drop-off sites is the American Legion Hall on La Crescenta Avenue. Troop 288 will be collecting food items at the hall between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17 and will sort them, box them up and take them to two needy locations. One of those locations is Sue’s Garden on La Crescenta Avenue and the other is the Sunland Tujunga Temporary Aid Center.
Other locations for drop off are the GlenUnited Methodist Church of Tujunga, the Glendale and Burbank Salvation Army locations and the Burbank Temporary Aid Center.
This year, Troop 288 will have bags available at the Veterans’ Day ceremony at Two Strike Park. Anyone who picks up a bag there can drop the filled bag at the American Legion on Nov. 17. Since there aren’t enough Scouts in the area to get to every household, attendants at the ceremony are encouraged to participate in this program by taking a bag home, filling it and bringing it to the American Legion Hall at 4011 La Crescenta Ave. in La Crescenta on Nov. 17.
