Scouts hike locally Troop 509 on Nov. 1 invited Cub Scout Webelos and community members to hike on a La Cañada trail skirting the burn area. The hike was one of several events planned for incoming Webelos who are deciding which troop to bridge into. The hike also offered a chance for the boys to see the devastation up close, gaining an understanding of how the fire will affect the area for years to come. Troop 509 works with the trails undertaking a conservation project every January. It usually consists of repairing trails damaged by erosion.

They watched a live newscast at 11 a.m., witnessed behind-the-scenes production and saw props.
