Boy Scout Troop 317, based in Montrose, received the Lord Baden-Powell Award at the Verdugo Hills Camporee event on Oct. 12 at Camp Tecuya near Frazier Park.

The Lord Baden-Powell Award recognizes one troop that represents the finest of Scout principles within the Verdugo Hills Council and exhibits the basis of all scouting: selflessness, community involvement, leadership, troop spirit, the Scout-run principle, exceptional advancement, solid physical presentation. The troop that carries those high ideals at Camporee and on a daily and annual basis is the troop honored.

This is the second time that Troop 317 won the Lord Baden-Powell award. It is the only troop to have won the award twice.

Troop 317 is chartered through Holy Redeemer Church in Montrose.
