“Wax” figures found at school

By Mary O’KEEFE

Mountain Avenue Elementary School campus came alive with historical figures on Tuesday – well, sort of.

Harry Houdini shared a table with Elvis Presley, and Lucille Ball sat across from Lucille Ball. The occasion was the school’s annual wax museum exercise, which has sixth graders choose a person from history who has made a difference, then study them.  On Tuesday, the students dressed up as their chosen person, then sat quietly in the lower court of the campus until a word or the clap of hands “activated” them. They then gave a brief history of the character, adding in little facts.

The wax museum performance was first held for parents on Tuesday, then for the entire student body.
