Foothill Municipal Water District (FMWD) announced the artwork of three students from the District’s service area that will be included in the 2022 Metropolitan Water District “Water is Life” Student Art Calendar. The artworks are amongst 37 featured in the calendar submitted from six counties in Southern California. Twenty-six water agencies throughout Southern California participated in the art contest with hundreds of submissions.
The local students are as follows by grade level: Daisy Kim, second grade, Mountain Avenue Elementary School; Stephanie Carballo, 10th grade, La Cañada High School and Hailey Chee, 10th grade, La Cañada High School.
The theme of the 2022 Student Art Calendar Contest, “Water is Life,” relates to the stewardship and conservation of water. This means protecting water resources for future generations through conservation and education.
“The Art Contest is an important way for students to be come aware of water as a precious resource that should not be wasted,” said FMWD President Richard Atwater.
To further promote water use efficiency, Metropolitan Water District has expanded water conservation programs to provide an additional $5.5 million to install high efficiency toilets in older apartments buildings and $1.5 million additional funding for direct installation of water-efficient devices for income qualified customers.
