Most people think of indoor play facilities as a positive arena to showcase a child’s freedom of play. Although Wonderland Indoor Playground on Foothill Boulevard in La Crescenta offers many opportunities to enhance imagination and freedom of play, the owners are expanding on this concept.

Armine Sargsyan, the owner of Wonderland, wants to help develop a child’s understanding and importance of play and creativity through the arts.

“I want to bring educational events to children,” Sargsyan said. “Wonderland’s philosophy is [we are] where fun meets learning.”

On Nov. 13, Wonderland Indoor Playground hosted an art event in collaboration with Color Me Mine in Montrose.

“I am working on this project so the children can create a memory that will last forever by using their own creativity,” Sargsyan said.

Color Me Mine is an organization that prides itself on helping a child learn the importance of the arts. With a variety of ceramic pieces from which to choose, a child can use paint to create their own noteworthy art piece.

At the Nov. 13 event were about 25 children who had a variety of paints to decorate a ceramic plate. The participants also received a free play pass for Wonderland on the day they come back to pick up their finished art work.

The children left the event not only having completed a piece of art, but also having a newfound confidence that they shared with each other.
