The Falcon football team is holding its 20th Annual Christmas Tree fundraiser. The deadline for orders is Dec. 5 and the trees will arrive on Dec. 11.
The money goes to support the football players for their equipment and the awards for all three level banquets, said Bob Fletcher, president of Falcon Football Boosters.
Like many other programs, football has suffered from the economic downturn with funding to the program being cut. Fundraisers, like the tree sale, are another way to help players with the costs of being part of the team.
In addition to helping to purchase required equipment, the boosters also raise money to buy new equipment. This year, Fletcher said, the boosters would like to purchase a blocking sled.
The team also has invited trainers, including a yoga instructor, to help round out the training session, Fletcher added.
“One hundred percent of the profits from the tree sales go to the team,” Fletcher said. “The trees are really nice. I have never been disappointed by them. And the wreath is a really good deal.”
The trees are seven to eight feet tall. Nobel Firs cost $70, a Douglas Fir is $50. A 12-inch holiday wreath is $20. The deadline to order is Dec. 5 and the trees and wreaths can be picked up on Dec. 11 from 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Crescenta Valley High School overflow parking lot, on Ramsdell above Community avenues, behind Office Depot.
Folks who ordered trees can pick the tree they want from those on the lot on Dec. 11. Football team members will be on hand to help load the chosen tree onto the buyer’s vehicle.
Orders can be placed via members of the football team or by ordering them by emailing BoosterPresident@Falconfootball.net.
