GRACE PERIOD OVER

DMV customers have had a 30-day grace period from the date of registration expiration to pay the vehicle registration renewal. This grace period ended on Jan. 1. When an expired registration is now detected, law enforcement will be able to immediately cite the vehicle for Vehicle Code §4000(a)(1).

BUSINESS WOMEN HOST WOMEN’S EXPO

Verdugo Glen Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) is hosting its first Heart of Business Expo on Saturday, Feb. 4 at the Glendale Elks Lodge in Glendale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event begins with networking and shopping with exhibitors such as Gigi Hill Handbags, Party Lite Gifts and Silpada Jewelry followed by the opening presentation by Linda LoRe, president and CEO Catalyst9 and former president and CEO of Frederick’s of Hollywood.

During lunch, attendees will have a choice of three Lunch with the Experts seminars presented by Jenn August (marketing your business), Katy Tafoya (using social media in business) or Robbie Motter (networking skills in business).

ABWA Verdugo Glen is hosting this event is to provide networking between area organizations and businesswomen and to assist their members to promote their own businesses.

Trails and Open Space Events

The City of Glendale, Community Services and Parks Dept. is hosting a series of community outdoor events.

On Saturday, “Geocaching 101,” is an introduction to geocaching at Deukmejian Wilderness Park from 9 a.m. to noon. There are still a few spots open, so anyone interested should call (818) 548-3795 to reserve a seat in the class. No fee.

On Jan. 21, there is “Third Saturday Wilderness Workday…We’re Back” also at Deukmejian Wilderness Park from 8 a.m. to noon. Tree planting, watering, weeding and more as restoration efforts continue.

Deukmejian Wilderness Park is located at 3429 Markridge Road in La Crescenta.

On Saturday, Jan. 28, “Happy Tails on Happy Trails” takes place at Brand Park from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Join the Glendale Parks & Open Space Foundation on a morning hike with your dog.

Brand Park is located at 1601 W. Mountain St. in Glendale.

E-Waste Recycling Fundraiser

Crescenta Valley High School aquatics is hosting an e-waste recycling fundraiser on Saturday, Jan. 14. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the high school. This is an opportunity for all who received new electronics for the holidays and are looking for a safe and easy way to dispose of old electronics, plus the aquatics booster club will benefit.
