Los Angeles County Fire Dept. on Saturday at 2:38 p.m. responded to a call concerning a fire in the 5600 block of Freeman Avenue and the 5500 block of Terrace Drive in La Crescenta.
According to Capt. Bowman of the LAcoFD, the fire department arrived on scene at 2:47 p.m.
The fire started after a resident in the 5600 block of Freeman Avenue put ashes in a compost. The compost caught fire and spread to the fence separating the Freeman Avenue and Terrace Drive properties.
The fire spread to a pile of wood and small boat that was on the Terrace Drive property. The weather was cool and humidity was high at the time of the fire.
“Luckily [the weather] was in our favor,” Bowman said.
The fire was knocked down quickly with only structural damage to the fence.
