This Week at LCIF

All are invited to Lutheran Church in the Foothills for the first Sunday of Christmas on Dec. 29. Stephen Robertson, our Children, Youth, and Family director, will lead us in worship with a sermon called “When You Feel Like Staying Down, Get Up!” Stay after the service for refreshments and conversation.

Hanukkah in the Foothills

The fourth annual Hanukkah in the Foothills is on Sunday, Dec. 29 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at New Hope Community Activity Center. Featured will be traditional Hanukkah food, music, prizes and games. The story of Hanukkah will be told.

This is a free celebration open to friends and family.

Walk and Word

Spend time Sunday mornings discovering Scripture while hiking Deukmejian Park. Participants meet at 8 a.m. at the parking lot (3429 Markridge Road, La Crescenta) on all but the first Sunday of each month.

Hike for an hour, then journal and share for an hour about a selection of Scripture. All are invited who feel drawn to this alternative spiritual activity under the guidance of CV United Methodist Church lay minister Jeanne Lavieri.

For those interested but unable to hike, several picnic tables with wheelchair access are available.

‘Lamb of God’ Oratorio – Open Invitation for Choir Members

All singers of Christian music are invited to join a community choir in the Crescenta Valley performing the Lamb of God Oratorio by Rob Gardner. Rehearsals begin Sunday, Jan. 12 and the performances are March 14 and March 15. This work portrays the ministry, crucifixion and resurrection of Christ. The production is hosted by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, La Crescenta Stake, with participation from various Christian churches in the extended Crescenta Valley and Glendale areas.

Catholics Invited

ICF, the Italian Catholic Federation, is looking for members. ICF is a family-oriented, non-profit fraternal organization dedicated to promoting activities that build faith and family spirit and bring men, women and children of all ages together. The branch members extend an invitation to La Crescenta, Tujunga and Sunland Catholics to join the local ICF branch and share your culture, heritage and religious beliefs. The only prerequisite for joining is being Catholic. Our members are from many ethnics groups.

ICF is active in various cultural events throughout the state, supports local parishes, and provides various charities with financial and other support. ICF members believe in proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ through community and spiritual actions, activities and camaraderie.

Members do not need to be Italian to join or participate in ICF’s evangelical and charitable work, but must be Catholic.

Meetings are the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at St. Bede Church, 215 Foothill Blvd., La Cañada Flintridge.
