Aerial Photos to be
Presented at Meeting
The Historical Society of the Crescenta Valley presents “Flying Over Old Crescenta Valley,” a slideshow of aerial photos of La Crescenta, Montrose and La Cañada from the ’30s and ’50s.

The presentation takes place on Monday, Jan. 16 at 7 p.m. at the Center For Spiritual Living, located on the corner of Dunsmore and Santa Carlotta in La Crescenta.

Chamber Hosting E-Waste
Recycling Fundraiser
The Crescenta Valley Chamber is holding a recycling event. Bring e-waste, paper and clothing for recycling on Saturday, Jan. 21 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the CV Chamber parking lot, Palms Plaza, 3131 Foothill Blvd., La Crescenta. Co-sponsored by SoCal Recycling Industries.

Trails and Open Space Events
The City of Glendale, Community Services and Parks Dept. is hosting a series of community outdoor events.

On Jan. 21, there is “Third Saturday Wilderness Workday…We’re Back” at Deukmejian Wilderness Park from 8 a.m. to noon. Tree planting, watering, weeding and more as restoration efforts continue.

Deukmejian Wilderness Park is located at 3429 Markridge Road in La Crescenta.

On Saturday, Jan. 28, “Happy Tails on Happy Trails” takes place at Brand Park from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Join the Glendale Parks & Open Space Foundation on a morning hike with your dog.

Brand Park is located at 1601 W. Mountain St. in Glendale.

Agenda Change for GUSD
The Glendale Unified School District board has changed the date for an item originally placed for discussion on its Jan. 17 agenda regarding the possible closure at lunch of the Crescenta Valley High School campus. The discussion issue has now been moved to the Feb. 7 board meeting. Dr. John Garcia, deputy superintendent, said the date change was due to more research required into board policy and the CVHS lunch release forms that are in place at the campus.

The GUSD school board meetings begin at 4 p.m. at the GUSD offices, 233 N. Jackson St. in Glendale.

Boy Scouts Hosting
Dinner
The Verdugo Hills Council Boy Scouts of America is holding its annual Business Meeting and Silver Beaver Dinner on Jan. 26 at 7 p.m. The event takes place at the Embassy Suites Glendale. Tickets are $55 per person, $100 per couple
