Glendale firefighters from Station 29 and the Urban Search and Rescue unit worked on shearing up a wall of a residence after a neighbor backed into a home in the 3600 block of Virginia Street. About 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday an elderly woman apparently thought she was stepping on the brake but instead was on the accelerator as she was backing out of her driveway. Her vehicle went across the street smashing into the lower level of a home. “At first it sounded like a sonic boom. Then I thought it must have been an earthquake because the whole house shook,” said homeowner Jenifer Bromberek. The impact broke the front wall. No one was injured.
