The Verdugo Hills Council Boy Scouts of America is having its annual Council Dinner and 2012 Silver Beaver Recognition Award ceremony on Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. at the Embassy Suites in Glendale.
“It’s kind of a two-fold dinner,” said Assistant Scout Executive Steve Smith. “It’s our annual business meeting and it’s our council dinner. [The Council Dinner is] when we give our Silver Beaver awards, the highest award an adult volunteer can get in any given council.”
Both Smith and GUSD board member Greg Krikorian were the primary organizers of the dinner.
Silver Beaver awards will be presented to Bob Fletcher, Dawna Lethcoe, Ken and Shelly Rawlins in recognition of their scouting service and contributions to the community.
Smith expects between 150 and 200 people attending the event. Guests can expect to find out more about how scouting is involved in the community.
Tickets are $50 per person or $90 per couple and are available either on the VHC’s website at www.vhcbsa.org, or in person at the office. The VHC is located at 1325 Grandview Ave. in Glendale.
