CVCA to Kick Off the New Year
The Crescenta Valley Community Assn. will have its first meeting of the year on Thursday, Jan. 24 at 6:30 p.m. in the La Crescenta Library community room. The meeting will include discussion on local issues as well as an opportunity for foothill residents to bring their own concerns.
For those who live in Glendale between Lowell and Pennsylvania, the Far North Glendale Homeowners will hold its annual meeting from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. before the CVCA meeting.

Rosemont Preserve Open Gate Afternoon
Join us for the second of our three monthly “open gates” at the Rosemont Preserve on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 19 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. This is a chance for visitors to come to the Preserve and wander the trail at their own pace, enjoying the tranquil setting, the wildlife and the natural beauty. Photographers: Bring your camera to capture the afternoon light; citizen scientists: bring your iNaturalist app to add your wildlife sightings!
Interns from Arroyos & Foothills Conservancy will be available to answer questions.
This event is free to the public and suitable for all ages; no reservations required. Rain cancels event. Sorry, no pets please.
The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, please park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave. Please wear sturdy shoes to walk the trail.

Verdugo Mountains 10K Trail Run & Hike
Registration is now open for the Verdugo Mountains 10K presented by the City of Glendale Community Services & Parks Dept. to benefit the Glendale Parks & Open Space Foundation. The 9th Annual Verdugo Mountains 10K Trail Run & Hike will take place on Sunday, May 5. The 6.2 miles and 1,735-foot elevation gain will make for one Sunday morning that will never be forgotten! The race begins promptly at 8 a.m. in Brand Park, 1601 W. Mountain St., Glendale.
After the race, participants are invited to enjoy a free pancake breakfast. There will also be a Race Expo, offering an opportunity for local health and fitness related businesses and nonprofits to exhibit their wares.

AT&T Hearing Scheduled
A hearing for AT&T regarding the small cell placement on a utility pole just north of 4704 Briggs Ave. has been rescheduled to Jan. 30 at 9 a.m. It will be held at the County of Los Angeles, Dept. of Regional Planning, Zoning Permits East Section, 320 W. Temple St., Room 150 in Los Angeles. (Note the updated room number.)
