4000 block of Chevy Chase Drive in La Cañada, a man reported hearing loud banging noises in the dining room area. He investigated and saw a man wearing a gray hooded sweater inside the window. There was another man behind the first suspect. The resident yelled and both suspects fled the area at 9:35 p.m.
Jan. 14
4500 block of Commonwealth Avenue in La Cañada, a man left his home to take his kids to school. He was certain he had locked all the doors and windows before leaving the residence. When he returned home he discovered the deadbolt on the front door had been unlocked and several rooms had been ransacked. The window in the laundry room had been smashed. At the time cellphone chargers had been stolen.
The burglary occurred between 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
2200 block of Waltonia Drive in Montrose, sunglasses were stolen from an unlocked vehicle overnight.
2300 block of Mira Vista Avenue in Montrose, a car registration, phone charger, skateboard and money were stolen from an unlocked vehicle overnight.
Jan. 11
4800 block of Oak Grove Drive in La Cañada, a 57-year-old Arcadia man was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon after a confrontation with another man at the office location at 9:29 a.m.
Berkshire Avenue and Foothill (210) Freeway in La Cañada, two men, one from San Gabriel and the other from Pasadena, both 35 years old, were arrested for possession of brass knuckles and burglary tools as well as reasonable cause burglary and grand theft.
While on patrol, a deputy heard of two suspicious vehicles in the area. The deputy saw one of the vehicles exit the area and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy reported noticing the driver was nervous and there was a smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. During an investigation, brass knuckles were found on the driver’s person. It was found the driver had recently been released from probation for burglary. The other man was the passenger of the vehicle. He was on active probation for evading.
After a continued investigation, several tools typically used during burglaries were found. The arrest occurred at 11:16 a.m.
Jan. 9
4900 block of Palm Drive in La Cañada, a woman who worked at a residence reported hearing a noise outside the home. She discovered the kitchen door was ajar and at first thought she had left it open by accident. She closed it and went back to work.
She left that night and returned the next day and found a bathroom window had several pry marks on it and she saw several footprints in the dirt near the window. She said there did not appear to be anything missing from the home.
The incident occurred between Jan. 9 at 7:30 p.m. and Jan. 10 at 5 p.m.
