CVTC Meeting Tonight
The monthly general meeting of the Crescenta Valley Town Council is tonight, Thursday, at 7 p.m. at the La Crescenta Library. On the agenda is information presented by Caltrans and Metro regarding a sound wall project that is set to begin along the La Crescenta corridor of the 210 Freeway.

All are welcome to the meeting.

City Holding El Niño Meeting
In an effort to continuously keep local communities informed and prepared for upcoming El Niño events, the City of Glendale is holding an El Niño preparation meeting tonight, Thursday, Jan. 21 at 6 p.m. at the Center for Spiritual Living-La Crescenta.

All are welcome.

Oak-ie Dokie Workday
The next Deukmejian Wilderness Park workday is Saturday. Work begins at 8 a.m. and continues until noon. Tasks for the day include tree watering and weed removal. There will also be some hiking into Cooks Canyon to do trail maintenance.

At the November work day 21 oak trees were planted and now need some TLC to get them through the next few months. Volunteers of all ages and abilities are welcome.

Drinks and snacks are provided for volunteers. Please wear sturdy shoes, a hat, long sleeved shirt, and long pants.

Deukmejian Wilderness Park is located at 3429 Markridge Road in La Crescenta.

‘Smarter than a Scammer’  Seminar
A seminar titled “Smarter than a Scammer” is being held on Tuesday, Jan. 26 from 9:30 a.m. to
12:30 p.m. in the Glendale Police Dept. community room. The seminar aims to educate residents on scam avoidance and is hosted by the City of Glendale, which partnered with local social services non-profit Wise & Healthy Aging. This free educational forum is dedicated to helping residents identify and avoid scams.

Attendees will enjoy a light lunch. The program will be live-interpreted into Armenian and Spanish.

The Glendale Police Dept. community room is located at 131 N. Isabel St., Glendale.

MSR Recruitment Meeting
Anyone interested in learning more about the Montrose Search and Rescue Team are invited to a recruitment meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 27 at the CV Sheriff’s Station, 4554 Briggs Ave. in La Crescenta. The meeting begins at 7 p.m.

Help Alleviate Homelessness
Volunteers are asked to give three hours of their time as a counter, navigator or driver for the 2016 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count taking place on Wednesday, Jan. 27 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Volunteers for the San Fernando region can show up at the Tujunga United Methodist Church at 9901 Tujunga Cyn. Blvd. in Tujunga To volunteer in the La Crescenta, Montrose and La Cañada areas go to Light On The Corner Church, 1911 Waltonia in Montrose. Training starts at 8 p.m.; count begins at 9 p.m. and ends at 11 p.m. on Jan. 27.

The count will provide future programs and services for the homeless.

CVCA Kicks Off 2016
The Crescenta Valley Community Association will have its first meeting of the year on Thursday, Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. in the La Crescenta Library, community room. The meeting will include discussion on local issues as well as an opportunity for foothill residents to bring their own concerns.

For those who live in Glendale above Honolulu between Lowell and Pennsylvania avenues, the Far North Glendale Homeowners will hold their annual meeting from 6:15 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. before the CVCA meeting. All are invited to the La Crescenta Library, 2809 Foothill Blvd., off of La Crescenta.
