A wild fire has started near Castaic Lake. It is named the Lake Hughes Fire and was first reported at 11 a.m. The fire is off Lake Hughes Road, north of Castaic Reservoir Road.
The wildfire is spreading rapidly. It grew quickly– in a mater of minutes – from 50/100 acres to 500-plus acres. As of press time, 500 acres have burned. The flames are burning to the west propelled by strong winds.
The fire is fueled by very dry vegetation. Multiple areas are under evacuation orders.
It is not known how the fire began.
