The City of Glendale Commission on the Status of Women is currently accepting nominations for outstanding women from our community to be honored at the Ninth Annual Jewels of Glendale Award Luncheon on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at the Oakmont Country Club. Members of the community are welcome to nominate deserving women for 2013 Jewels of Glendale: Women of Courage Award. These are women who work, live, or study in Glendale that have overcome obstacles, serve as role models in the community, and demonstrate exceptional strength, courage, and perseverance.

The Commission is also seeking nominations for the 2013 Gem of Glendale Award. This award is a $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded to one outstanding student (male or female) who is engaged in community service that benefits women and/or girls, and reflects the core values and mission of the Commission on the Status of Women.

Nominations for each award can be obtained on the Commission’s website atwww.ci.glendale.ca.us/women.

The deadline for nominations is Tuesday, February 1, 2013 at 5:00 pm.
