The Citibank building at 2350 Honolulu Ave. is in escrow. Once escrow is complete, Glendale Community College will bring classes to the location.
“What we envision is a third campus for our students,” said Drew Sugars, director of Communication and Community Relations for GCC.
The campus will be similar to the Garfield and Verdugo campuses.
“We are very excited. We think it will be a really nice fit. We are already there with PDC,” he said.
PDC (Professional Development Center) is located next door to the old Citibank location and focuses on business education. The plan for the new location is to expand, adding classes for credit and non-credit. This new campus will give GCC a northern connection with students in the Crescenta Valley and foothill communities.
“There is work that needs to be done. We still need to get the keys,” Sugars said. “Once we do that we are going to meet with architects … We want to maintain the character of the area.”
Sugars added they think the new campus will add to Montrose and, by bringing more people into the area, will support shopping park businesses.
