On Tuesday morning members of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Dept. (LASD) and fire departments responded to a structure fire at a home in the 2000 block of Rancho Cañada in La Cañada Flintridge.
The call came into LASD – Crescenta Valley Station at 3:53 a.m. Deputies arrived just before LA County Fire Dept.
“[We arrived] at 4:03 a.m. to a two-story single-family dwelling with smoke and fire showing. Prior to our arrival, sheriff deputies were on scene. They had already helped rescue an adult female from a window,” said Christian Reynoso, spokesperson, LA County Fire Dept.
The woman was in the back of the house. An adult male was able to get out of the house.
“Our first units went through the front door to help attack the fire,” Reynoso said.
The two residents who had been able to get out of the home told firefighters there was one more person in the house. As firefighters entered the front door they found a male adult just inside the front door.
Firefighters/paramedics performed CPR for about 30 minutes.
“[CPR was] unsuccessful and [the man was pronounced dead] on the scene,” he said.
The three individuals were all related.
The family dog was also found deceased in the house.
Knock-down of the fire was 25 minutes after arrival of firefighters.
The male and female were transported to local hospitals due to smoke inhalation. A firefighter was injured with a minor burn to his wrist. He was also transported. The LA County medical examiner released the name of the victim as Jacob Un Seong, 67. The cause of death has yet to be determined.
The fire is under investigation by LASD.
