FUNDING APPROVED FOR THE ULTIMATE DESTINATION IN LA CAÑADA/FLINTRIDGE

Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich allocated $30,000 from the Cities Excess Funds to the City of La Cañada/Flintridge for the Ultimate Destination project.

The Ultimate Destination has long been a vision of Ms. Liz Blackwelder, who has been a dedicated trail advocate for over 40 years and the founding member of the La Canada Flintridge Trails Council.  Ten years ago, Liz proposed the idea of the Ultimate Destination rest area to the City of La Canada and even donated $35,000 of her own money to make it possible.

At a total cost of $136,000, the pocket park will have a 360 degree vista of the San Gabriel Mountains, the surrounding Cherry Canyon area, and the City of La Canada Flintridge.  It will include a shade rest area for hikers, bicyclists and equestrians with native oak trees, a water fountain for trail users and a water bubbler for horses.
