A vehicle traveling at a slow rate of speed on Ocean View Boulevard and Florencita Avenue on Wednesday afternoon hit a pedestrian who was transported to the hospital.

At about 4 p.m. a vehicle was traveling westbound on Florencita Avenue and stopped at the intersection waiting to make a left turn.  The elderly male driver made the left turn and struck an elderly male pedestrian who was crossing Ocean View Boulevard. The man was in the crosswalk.

“The driver said the sun [made it difficult] to see,” said Officer Rodriguez, California Highway Patrol. “Luckily he was traveling at only about 5 miles per hour.”

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with a non-life threatening head injury, said Capt. Matthews, LACoFD Station 63.
