GEF Awards 2017-18 Teacher Grants

The Glendale Educational Foundation (GEF) announced the recipients of the GEF Teacher Grant Program for 2017-18. In its first year, GEF awarded 14 teacher grants totaling $15,771 in funds to enrich and enhance learning environments at Glendale Unified School District (GUSD) schools. Grants were awarded in the three priority areas of GEF – Visual and Performing Arts, Science and Technology, and Health and Fitness.

Among the recipients were Breanna Hutchinson from Clark Magnet High School, Yula Perez, Jesus Vega and Rachel Staab from College View School, Mathew Schick from Crescenta Valley High School, Sheri Aiken from Fremont Elementary School, Catherine de la Paz, Lisa Zohrehvand and Yvonne Quinonez from La Crescenta Elementary School, Jodi Fitzgibbons, Cheryl Hamel, Elizabeth Neskovska and Kathy Barnett Valley View Elementary School.

A presentation of awards was scheduled at a recent GUSD board meeting at 6:30 p.m.; a brief reception was held prior to the board meeting at GUSD.

The Glendale Educational Foundation serves to enrich and enhance the educational experience of Glendale Unified School District (GUSD) students and staff in the areas of Visual and Performing Arts, Health and Fitness, and Science and Technology. The current emphasis, “Get EveryBody Fit,” will help purchase sports equipment for fitness programs for all schools in the district. 

To date, more than $3,000,000 has been donated to GUSD.
