HSCV Presents the History of the Alex Theater
At the next meeting of the Historical Society of the Crescenta Valley on Monday, Feb. 15 the history of the Alex Theatre will be presented.

Built in 1925 as a vaudeville and movie palace, the Alex Theater enjoyed a long run in downtown Glendale. It aged and eventually closed in the ’90s, but was rejuvenated by preservationists and is now a showcase for the arts in modern Glendale.

All are invited to the presentation at 7 p.m. at the Center for Spiritual Living-La Crescenta at 4845 Dunsmore Ave. in La Crescenta (corner of Dunsmore and Santa Carlotta).

State Water Board Extends Drought Regulations
On Feb. 2, the State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board) adopted an extended and revised emergency regulation to ensure that urban water conservation continues in 2016.

The regulation extends restrictions on urban water use through October 2016 while providing urban water suppliers more flexibility in meeting their conservation requirements. This action follows Gov. Brown’s Nov. 13, 2015 executive order directing the State Water Board to extend the emergency water conservation regulation should drought conditions persist through January 2016. Under the revised regulation, statewide water conservation is expected to exceed 20% compared to 2013 water use.
