The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office has released the name of the victim of a fatal accident on Angeles National Forest Highway on Saturday.
Carl Raggio IV, 40, from Santa Clarita died due to blunt trauma, according to the LA Coroner spokeswoman.
California Highway Patrol received the call concerning a car over the side on the ANF highway at mile marker 18.70 at 1:15 p.m.
“The accident involved a solo occupant, a male, in a Subaru,” said CHP Sgt. Kevin Denmon. “The vehicle was traveling southbound on the Angeles National Forest Highway when for an unknown reason the driver lost control of his vehicle and left the roadway.”
His vehicle went over a cliff about 300 feet, Denmon said.
The driver was wearing a seatbelt. There does not appear to be any other vehicle involved. The investigation is ongoing by CHP. The victim is the grandson of former Glendale Mayor Carl Raggio.
