600 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada, three suspects, described as two females, black, and one male, black, entered a business and walked to a table where handbags were displayed. Apparently the suspects cut the security tether attached to the purses and walked out of the store without attempting to pay.
The theft occurred at 5:56 p.m.
Westbound Foothill (210) Freeway at Pennsylvania Avenue in La Crescenta, a 33-year-old Glendale man was stopped for reckless driving. Deputies were traveling westbound on the 210 when they reported seeing a black vehicle drive past them at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was following closely behind another vehicle when the driver made an abrupt move that caused another driver to slam on his brakes. The black vehicle then made another abrupt lane change in front of a big rig, causing the truck driver to veer to his right to avoid a collision.
When the black vehicle reached the Pennsylvania Avenue exit, the driver moved to the right emergency shoulder, passing slower vehicles, and then exited the freeway at Pennsylvania Avenue at about 50 miles per hour.
The arrest occurred at 6:40 p.m.
Feb. 6
5100 block of Jessen Drive in La Cañada, mailboxes that serviced five homes were vandalized overnight.
3700 block of Berwick Drive in La Cañada, a wallet with personal information and a car key were stolen from an unlocked vehicle overnight.
3000 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Crescenta, three suspects, described as female, black, 5’ 4” tall, weighing about 120 pounds, male, black, 5’7” tall, weighing about 170 pounds, and male, black, 5’6” tall, weighing about 140 pounds, entered a business and walked straight to the cosmetic aisle, took several items off the shelves and exited the store without attempting to pay. They fled the area in a mid-2000s grey Chevy Malibu with custom chrome wheels and tinted windows.
The theft occurred at 8:51 p.m.
Feb. 3
5100 block of Briggs Avenue in La Crescenta, a person/persons damaged the concrete slab that held up a mailbox and then stole the mailbox from a home. A plant in the resident’s backyard was also damaged between Jan. 31 to Feb. 3.
Angeles Crest Highway at mile marker 28, a man reported that as he and his friend were sitting in his vehicle at a turnout a dark blue, newer Ford Mustang pulled up behind his car and a man, described as white, 5’10” tall, weighing 185 pounds with brown and grey hair and about 52 years old, walked up to his car. At the time the suspect was wearing a Hawaiian shirt. The man said he was with the sheriff’s department and said he was just checking on them. He then returned to his Mustang and drove away. After several minutes, the suspect returned to the man’s car and told him he had a warrant out of Arkansas (the driver’s vehicle has Arkansas license plates). He asked the man for his driver’s license and the man asked the suspect for his badge number. The suspect told him he left it in his vehicle and that he would not arrest him since he was out of state. The suspect then went back to his Mustang and drove off. The suspect is wanted for impersonating a peace officer.
