There have been several residential burglaries recently in the unincorporated area of Los Angeles County/La Crescenta and the City of La Cañada.
One burglary occurred on Tuesday in the 700 block of Greenridge Drive in La Cañada. LA County Sheriff’s Dept. detectives from the CV Station, as of press time, were investigating the burglary and had two suspects in custody.
There was also a burglary on Feb. 6 between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. in the 4800 block of Briggs Avenue. A resident reported that he had locked all the doors in the main home, then went to the guest house where he lives to take a nap. At about 4 p.m. he woke up and walked to the kitchen door of the main home, put the key in the door lock and noticed the dead bolt was no longer engaged, according to the LASD Crescenta Valley Station report.
The man entered the home, noticed the front door was open and the screen door was propped open. The only items he found missing was a coin collection.
Three days later there were two homes burglarized and one attempted burglary in La Crescenta and one burglary in La Cañada.
A home in the 4900 block of Glenwood Avenue in La Crescenta was burglar-ized between 10:30 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. on Feb. 9. A man reported that he had taken his son to his ex-wife’s home. As they entered the front door, they saw a piece of drywall on the floor and found several rooms had been ransacked. He contacted the CV Sheriff’s Station. He told the deputies that prior to his arrival the home’s alarm had been activated. According to the LASD report, deputies found a piece of drywall on the floor that was about 12 inches wide and 16 inches tall. After an investigation, deputies determined entry was made into the living room through a wall that used to have a dog door. It appeared that a person/persons kicked the drywall and crawled into the home.
Another home in the 2800 block of Frances Avenue in La Crescenta was bur-glarized between 7:20 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Feb. 9. When the resident arrived she found the door ajar connecting the garage to the home. A glass door was shattered with the bottom part of the door completely kicked out. The door had been locked but was found unlocked by deputies. Several rooms were ransacked and an iPad, coins and other valuables were stolen.
Also on Feb. 9, there was an attempted burglary of a home in the 5400 block of La Crescenta Avenue in La Crescenta when three suspects, described as male, black, entered the yard but were apparently frightened by construction workers at the home. The suspects fled; the report came into the sheriff’s station at
2:22 p.m.
In La Cañada, a home was burglarized in the 800 block of Lynwood Lane. A resident reported that while he was standing in his kitchen talking on the phone he saw two males running from his neighbor’s front yard and into the street. One of the suspects was described as having a gray bag over his shoulder and the other suspect had a black backpack over his shoulder. Both suspects had their faces covered with hooded sweatshirts and were wearing gloves. The suspects got into the backseat of a black four-door Nissan with tinted windows that was parked across the street from the residence. The vehicle drove off. The neighbor heard the home’s alarm and called the sheriffs. When deputies arrived they noticed a window was shattered and several rooms were ransacked. The residents did not report anything stolen as of press time.
