Jan. 30

2400 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Crescenta, deputies responded to a call concerning incidents of lewd and threatening phone calls. Deputies met with the informant; an employee at the location stated that he had received a phone call and the caller identification came up as “unknown.” The person on the other end of the phone call began speaking in Armenian and made extremely lewd statements. The employee was confused by the call and did not know who the caller was. The suspect/caller hung up the phone shortly after the initial call. The employee stated he thought the suspect spoke with a Russian-Armenian accent and that his voice may have been electronically masked. The owner of the business stated that he too had received several calls from apparently the same suspect who made the same type of extremely lewd comments but also threatened to kill the owner and added, “You are not good people.”

The incidents occurred from 8:50 a.m. to 9:50 a.m.

4300 block of Cornishon Avenue in La Cañada Flintridge, a woman reported that a man, later identified as a suspect who was wearing a white T-shirt, brandished a firearm and while she was driving pointed it at her in a threatening manner. The victim was driving westbound on Foothill Boulevard from Angeles Crest Highway in the number two lane.

The suspect exited the 76 gas station in the 1000 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada and cut the woman off. This caused her to almost collide into the suspect’s vehicle. The victim merged over to the number one lane and honked her horn. The suspect pulled his vehicle alongside hers and stopped. She avoided making eye contact with him and once the signal light turned green, she continued westbound on Foothill Boulevard. She turned southbound on a street; the suspect followed. She cut through a school parking lot and drove back to Foothill Boulevard. The suspect continued to follow her and, as he drove past her, she saw he was holding the steering wheel with his left hand while he raised his right hand up and over his left forearm. He was holding a black revolver and pointed it at her. Fearing for her life she was able to maneuver onto the 210 Freeway and away from the suspect.

The incident began at 1 p.m.
