The last community meeting/workshop for the skate/scooter park that will be located at Crescenta Valley Park was held on Saturday morning at the park.
A skate park was first proposed about three years ago by local skaters led by Cooper Iven who was then a junior at Crescenta Valley High School. Iven, now a freshman at University of California Santa Barbara, came back to Crescenta Valley to attend the final workshop.
Iven originally approached Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation Dept. with the skate park proposal. Parks and rec worked closely with the skaters and came up with an initial design based on the committee’s “dream park.” Over the last few months, L.A. County parks and rec designers and leaders have conducted three workshops giving the public the chance to share their opinions for the design. Those suggestions were incorporated into the final design.
Groundbreaking is still several months away, but L.A. County board of supervisors has approved the park and the funding is in place.
