The L.A. County Coroner’s Office released the identity of a man who was found inside his car that plunged over the side of the Angeles National Forest Highway near Mt. Gleason Road early Monday.
Andrew Searcy, 25, of La Mirada was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The vehicle went [over the side] about 300 feet,” said California Highway Patrol Officer Christian Cracraft.
The L.A. County Sheriff’s Dept., Norwalk station, has confirmed that Searcy was the missing person that had been reported to them earlier.
“We took a missing person report earlier [Monday morning],” said Sgt. Mendoza, Norwalk station.
Mendoza said LASD Air 5 reported seeing the vehicle at 8:17 a.m. on Monday morning. Montrose Search and Rescue Team members, who also responded in the search, helped in the recovery of the man’s body.
The accident is still under investigation with CHP.
