Arbor Day celebration

The Arbor Day celebration planned for March 27 at Two Strike Park will have an emphasis on what many think is the foundation of the Crescenta Valley community –volunteerism.

From students to retired seniors, this community is never short on lending a helping hand. The new librarian at the La Crescenta Library Marta Wiggins said when she had asked for volunteers to help with the new facility she expected about 20 people.

“I planned for 40 and [over] 70 showed up,” she said.

In preparing for the Arbor Day event Crescenta Valley Weekly would like to hear from its readers about what volunteering has meant to you. Write in about the volunteers you know. We would like to honor those who do so much for our community.

Crescenta Valley High School students volunteered during the Station Fire with the American Red Cross. The shelter was located at their school. They arrived at 6 a.m. every morning and worked through the day.
