Car slams into flower shop, driver transported

Porcelain angels watched from their  shelf untouched surrounded by chaos after a car drove through the front door of Lordz flower shop at 2070 Montrose Avenue.

A blue Honda slammed into the Lordz flower shop at the corner of Florencita Drive and Montrose Avenue on Friday, Feb. 19,  about noon.

The 19-year-old driver of the blue Honda was traveling eastbound on Montrose Avenue.  A 37-year-old driver in a gray Land Rover was westbound on Montrose Avenue waiting to turn left onto Florencita Avenue, said California Highway Patrol Officer Ming-Yang hsu.

Sam Ekstrand witnessed the accident through the rearview mirror of his car.

“I saw the car coming down. The (gray) car was turning left and it looked like they collided. The blue car ended up in the flower store,” Ekstrand said. “He [the Honda] was traveling fast.”

Other witnesses also reported the Honda was traveling at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle slammed through the front door of Lordz Flower shop.  The  shop owner was the only one in the store at the time and was not hurt but visibly shaken by the incident.

The driver of the blue vehicle  complained of neck and back pain and was transported to the hospital.  California Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
