Swingin’ with the Crescenta Valley High School Jazz Band

If you closed your eyes, you would swear Tommy Dorsey and Benny Goodman were in the Crescenta Valley High School cafeteria during a recent swing dance. It was then that the CVHS jazz band entertained dancers as well as those who just wanted to sit and enjoy the music – whether kids or adults.

But the jazz band, led by CVHS Music Director Mat Schick, not only played favorites from the big band era on that night.

“Tonight, this band played music that spans over 90 years,” Schick said. “That’s not easy to do.”
