Montrose Search and Rescue team members are in the process of recovering a body that was found at a campground near Switzer Falls in Angeles National Forest tonight.

“It is a man’s body,” said Dep. Mark Pope, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesman.

The MSR is still in the process of recovering the body as of 7 p.m. The man’s identity has yet to be released.

MSR has been in the area since early this morning searching for a missing 70-year-old man who was camping in the area over the weekend.

The man, who is an experienced hiker, was reportedly scheduled to return from his camping trip on Sunday. When he did not return family contacted the sheriff’s station.

Pope would not comment if the body was that of the missing hiker.
