CV WEEKLY La Tuna Canyon fatality

By Mary O’KEEFE

A accident on La Tuna Canyon Road this morning resulted in one fatality, two with severe injuries and one with minor injuries.

Two vehicles were traveling westbound on La Tuna Canyon Road when one of the vehicles lost control.

“That vehicle [that lost control] went sideways and crossed over into the [eastbound] lane,” said Sgt. Delgado, Los Angeles Police Department, Traffic Division.

That vehicle hit both the westbound and eastbound vehicles.

The driver who lost control of his vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of one the other vehicles had severe injuries and is in surgery at a local hospital. The third vehicle had two occupants; one was transported with severe injuries, the other with minor injuries.

The investigation is ongoing but Delgado said it appeared speed and wet roads may have been the causes of the driver losing control of his vehicle.

At this time the names are not being released pending family notification.

The accident occurred about a mile west of the Foothill (210) freeway entrance near the area of another fatal accident on Dec. 1, 2012. Speed and wet roads were attributed to that accident as well.
