On Friday, March 4, the CV Water District received approval from the California Department of Public Health to place Well 5 back into service. Due to high levels of MTBE, Well 5 had been out of service since September 2008. In mid-February 2011, a five-day pump test, which produced a total of 5.1 million gallons of water, showed only trace amounts of MTBE. The District will be monitoring MTBE levels at locations throughout its service areas to ensure MTBE levels remain well below state and federal regulations.
