A missing hiker has been found by Sierra Madre Search and Rescue team members tonight after being missing for four days.
“The LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department) contacted us about the man that had been missing since March 8 (Thursday),” said Lt. Marjory Jacobs, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Crescenta Valley Station.
The 48-year-old man’s vehicle was found near Chaney Trail in Altadena. Search crews including Sierra Madre and Montrose Search and Rescue searched the area. MSR was called out at 5:15 p.m., Jacobs said.
The man was reportedly an experienced hiker. Sierra Madre members found him at 9 p.m. this evening.
“He has a a three inch gash on his forehead,” Jacobs said. “From what he can remember, he fell on Friday…about 12 feet backwards into a revine.”
LASD Air 12 is airlifting the hiker out of the area, Jacobs added.
