IN Brief

Rosemont Preserve News
On Sunday, March 16, there is an “open gate” event at the Rosemont Preserve that offers a chance to visit the preserve and wander the trail at the visitor’s own pace, enjoying the tranquil setting, the wildlife and the natural beauty.

The gate will be open from 3 p.m. to
5 p.m., and Friends of the Rosemont Preserve committee members will be available to answer questions.

The Rosemont Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, please park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave. Those planning on walking the trails should wear sturdy shoes.

This event is open to the public and is completely free. Sorry, no pets please. Rain cancels event.

SAGEBRUSH TOWN HALL MEETING
A town hall meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 25 at 7 p.m. at the Crescenta Valley High School auditorium to discuss the potential transfer of territory affecting La Cañada residents attending the Glendale Unified School District.

Representatives of both districts will be available to answer questions.

In May 2013, a group of citizens from the City of La Cañada requested the city to support and endorse the realignment of the western areas of the City of La Cañada into LCUSD. In June 2013, the La Cañada City Council adopted a resolution in support of the territory transfer of the area known as Sagebrush.

Schools affected by the proposed transfer include Mountain Avenue Elementary School, Rosemont Middle School, and Crescenta Valley High School.

Options to mitigate the impact of a property transfer on the GUSD general obligation bond debt that has been issued for Measure K and Measure S are being explored.

Crescenta Valley High School auditorium is located in the 4400 block of Ramsdell Avenue in La Crescenta.
