After a lengthy wait, Sprouts, a grocery store specializing in natural and organic food, is opening its doors in La Cañada on Wednesday at 7 a.m.
“La Cañada was chosen due to the demand from local residents for a neighborhood-friendly natural foods store,” said Kim Rockley with Media Relations at Sprouts.
The store is at 920 Foothill Blvd. where the first big Sport Chalet was formerly located. The property was bought by Henry’s Farmers Market, a company that merged with Sprouts in 2011, according to a release on the company’s website.
It will be the 106th store for the 10-year-old company, which is based in Phoenix, Ariz.
Sprouts will feature natural and organic food, farm-fresh produce (much of which is grown in California), vitamins, sandwiches, meat, seafood and more.
On opening day, there will be coupon booklets for 10 free sandwiches available to the first 300 customers who make purchases. There will also be free reusable bags for all paying customers while supplies last.
Community members are encouraged to come out and celebrate the Sprouts grand opening.
“We always have a long line of folks out front eagerly awaiting the doors to open with great steals and deals,” Rockley said.
