A La Cañada girl was struck by a car while crossing the street in the 4700 block of Rosemont Avenue, south of Los Amigos Street on Thursday.

“At 7:43 p.m. on Thursday a male driver, 25, of Monrovia driving a 1996 Ford  Ranger struck a 15-year-old girl,” said California Highway Patrol Officer Barrios.

The girl had reportedly attended the Rosemont Middle School Open House that was held last night from 7 p.m. to 8:30p.m.

“She was banged up and scared,” said Principal Cynthia Livingston.

The girl was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital with injuries and abrasions to the back of her head, left hip and right side, Barrios said.

Livingston has been in touch with the family. She said the girl is back from the hospital and recovering.

The investigation is ongoing by CHP.

Rosemont Avenue near the school is a busy area when school is in session and for special functions like Open House, and weekends for basketball and soccer games. Drivers are reminded to be cautious in the area and always be aware of pedestrians.
