It was a fun afternoon of eclectic questions and even more eclectic answers when participants of the 28th Annual Smart-A-Thon 2016 exercised local knowledge while funding a community organization.
The afternoon of brain teasing questions was all to benefit The Mary Pinola and Crescenta Valley Chamber Education Fund.
Twenty-nine teams participated in the event. The top five teams answering the most questions correctly were USC Verdugo Hills Hospital, Congressman Adam Schiff’s team, Strong Team, Crescenta Cañada Rotary and Glendale Education Foundation.
Three teams won a drawing for $500 each. They were the Glendale Education Foundation, Glendale Community College and USC-VHH. The winner of the “Pot of Gold,” which this year was worth $404.83, was Catherine Derillo who in turn donated the funds to the Rose Bowl Aquatics.
