A 56-year-old Juniper Hills woman was found in her vehicle that had plunged down 350 feet over the side of Angeles Forest Highway.

The last time relatives had contact with the woman she was driving up Angeles Crest Highway at 6:45 p.m. on Sunday on her way back to Palmdale from Pasadena. When she didn’t return her family reported her missing to the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station at 3 a.m. this morning.

The Montrose Search and Rescue Team was called out to assist Palmdale Search and Rescue. Assisted by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department helicopter Air 5, the woman’s white Ford Ranger was spotted at 9:30 a.m. on Angeles National Forest at mile marker 10.47.

When rescuers reached the woman they found that she was barely conscious with severe trauma to her head and chest.  She was airlifted to Huntington Memorial Hospital.
