In the March 12 CVW cover story Crosswalk May Get the Boot, it was stated that the earliest Glendale City Council meeting that could deal with the diagonal crosswalk at Honolulu Avenue and Ocean View Boulevard would be March 31. However, the March 31 meeting is being held at Sparr Heights and the only time a decision could be made concerning the crosswalk, or any city business, would be in the Glendale City Council chambers in city hall. The earliest possible date for a decision would be April 7, the date of the next council meeting in chambers.
The city council has been meeting at locations throughout the city as part of the City Council in your Neighborhood outreach.
At Tuesday’s meeting Councilwoman Paula Devine made a motion to have a Montrose diagonal crosswalk be agendized for the next council meeting. Councilman Dave Weaver seconded the motion. Councilwoman Laura Friedman also voiced her support for the motion.
This discussion will only take place after Roubik Golanian, director of Public Works, has presented his study concerning the crosswalk, which has been in place for about a month, said Tom Lorenz, spokesman for the city of Glendale.
Although the earliest date for a decision would be April 7, that is Election Day and is traditionally a shorter council meeting so the issue may be pushed to another week.
Agendas for the meetings can be found on the city’s website at www.glendaleca.gov.
