5800 block of Edmund Avenue in La Crescenta, a resident reported that as he was in his home office he observed a White adult male walk toward the rear yard sliding glass door to his home. He noticed that the suspect was holding a screwdriver and watched as he attempted to place the tool in the glass sliding door. The resident yelled at the suspect who immediately ran from the area. The suspect was reportedly seen getting into a black new model truck that was parked north of the residence. The vehicle had tinted windows, a silver ladder on the left side of the truck with orange straps and no license plate.
The attempted burglary occurred at 3:45 p.m.
Angeles Crest Highway in Angeles National Forest, a woman parked her vehicle at the location and went on a hike. When she returned to her vehicle she found the driver’s side door had been damaged. Cash had been stolen from vehicle. The vehicle burglary occurred between 2 p.m. and 5:45 p.m.
600 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada Flintridge, a witness reported observing two women, both described as Hispanic, enter the front of the store and walk to the handbag area. They both began placing handbags inside their shopping cart and then placed shoes into the cart along with miscellaneous clothes. A male, described as Hispanic, entered the front of the store. He met with the two female suspects and began to push the shopping cart full of merchandise out of the store and past the cash register without attempting to pay for the items. The witness attempted to locate the three suspects vehicle but was unable to locate them.
The theft occurred at 7:38 p.m.
March 30
2600 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Crescenta, a store manager reported witnessing three suspects, described as two male Black adults and one female Black adult, enter the store and walk to the alcohol beverage aisle. One male suspect concealed an alcohol beverage in his jacket; when he was confronted he did not respond and exited the alarm sensored door. A witness reported seeing the three suspects get into a white Mercedes Benz convertible and drive away from the location. Surveillance footage reportedly matched the witness’ report.
The theft occurred at 10:30 p.m.
March 23
2500 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Crescenta, a resident mailed an envelope containing a personal check in a mail receptacle at the intersection of Rosemont Avenue and Foothill Boulevard. A few days later the resident received a call from a bank representative warning of potential fraudulent activity. It was revealed the check that the resident had mailed was deposited and cashed by a bank account holder, not the person to whom the check had been made payable.
The check was mailed at 10 a.m.
