The California Highway Patrol is asking for the public’s help in finding the driver of a vehicle involved in a fatal accident early this morning.
The CHP Altadena Area Office is investigating a fatal collision that took place Tuesday morning at about 2:35 a.m. The collision occurred on southbound the Golden State Freeway I-5 just north of Scott Road, within the city limits of Burbank.
During the course of the investigation, it was determined that a second vehicle collided with the first, causing the first vehicle to veer to the right and tavel down an embankment before colliding into a tree. The driver of the first vehicle sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Burbank Fire Department. The two passengers sustained moderate injuries and were transported to USC/LA County Medical Center.
The 25 year-old victim is Ernesto Lopez, from Sunland. His passengers were Jose Lopez, 21, and Guadalupe Vasquez, 25, both from Sunland.
The CHP Altadena Area Office is seeking the assistance of the public in identifying the driver of the suspect vehicle. The suspect vehicle is described as a blue pickup truck with damage to its right rear side.
