Feb. 5, 1921 – April 1, 2012
Serge Kimack, longtime resident of Montrose, passed away in his sleep April 1. He was 91 years young.
Serge was born in Sidliska, Poland on Feb. 5, 1921. At 19 he was drafted into the Soviet Army. After the war he escaped from the USSR and after a 10-year struggle was finally able to immigrate to the USA.
In 1957 he landed in New York took a job as a welder in Buffalo and traveled the United States looking for a place to call home for his family. He finally settled in Southern California working for Sears & Robuck.
He was faithful to his family and his church. In his retirement he managed Ukraine Cultural Center, was a real estate mogul and loved spending time with “my junk.”
He is survived by his daughter Tamara Kimack; son William (Lori) Kimack; daughter Virginia Timpson; and son John (Jill) Kimack. Also by grandchildren Janine, Nicole, Johnathan, Joelle, Tyler, Michael, Alex, Casey and Corey and great grandchildren Malae, Akua, Lucien and Kenzie.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for St. Andrews Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 1456 Sutherland St., Los Angeles, CA 90026.
Services were held on Friday, April 6 at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills.
