Local Hills and Hollywood Topic of HSCV Meeting
The next meeting of the Historical Society of the Crescenta Valley on Monday, April 18 will focus on the local back lot for movies – the Sunland-Tujunga area.
Sunland-Tujunga has served as a back lot for movie studios for decades – from silent movies to modern shows like “Sons of Anarchy.” Tujunga resident Craig Durst, who works in the entertainment industry, will profile many of the notable films and TV shows that have been shot there.
The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the Center For Spiritual Living-La Crescenta at the corner of Santa Carlotta and Dunsmore avenues.
Monthly Riverwalk CleanUp
This Saturday, April 16 is the monthly Riverwalk Workday at the Glendale Narrows Riverwalk as part of the 27th Annual Great Los Angeles River CleanUp. This opportunity allows volunteers to work along the L.A. River removing invasive weeds from the landscaped areas on the trail and to remove trash from the river.
The City of Glendale Riverwalk Workday starts promptly at 8 a.m. and the CleanUp event will start at 9 a.m.

Rosemont Preserve Earth Day Celebration
The Rosemont Preserve is opening its gates to the community on Sunday, April 17 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., with a special focus on activities for families. Bring the kids for hands-on games, art projects and learning related to plants, animals, and local Native American heritage at the Preserve. There will also be a scavenger hunt with a special prize!
All are invited in celebrating the rebirth and renewal of nature. The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, please park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave. in La Crescenta. Those who plan on walking the trail should wear sturdy shoes.
This event is free to the public and suitable for all ages, no reservations required. Rain cancels event. Sorry, no pets please.

Work Planned by SCE
Southern California Edison will be performing maintenance on the electrical system in the area. In order to perform this work safely, SCE must temporarily turn off power. This outage will allow the modernization of the grid by making needed upgrades and repairs to increase reliability. Power outages may cause some inconvenience and therefore attempts are made for outages to be isolated down to the smallest area possible and the work completed safely and as quickly.
Starting at April 18 at 9:30 a.m. and ending at 2:30 p.m., three residential customers will be affected, one commercial customer will be affected no Traffic Control meters will be affected.
The outage boundary is Ravista Lane just west of Palm Drive in La Cañada.

Date Announced for Annual Cruise Night
