Glendale police have arrested a transient for being in possession of a concealed a “dirk/dagger.”
Officers responded to a call on Friday of a man walking on Verdugo Road near Broadview Avenue wearing a backpack with a large item protruding from the shoulder area toward the back of the man’s head.
When officers arrived, they found the 37-year-old transient carrying three Samurai-type swords, with blades ranging in lengths of 15 to 30 inches. Each sword was in an individual sheath with a bladed edge and sharp tip at the end. Officers also found a bow and several arrows concealed in the man’s clothing. He claimed to need the weapons to hunt in the woods due to being homeless.
