Crescenta Valley ‘Rocks’

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’”

In the face of a pandemic virus that has so far killed 27,112 Americans, four of them in Glendale as of Wednesday, there are always glimmers of hope, love and joy … some of them large, others small.
Local historian and CV Weekly columnist Mike Lawler reported finding cheerfully painted rocks on his physically distanced morning walk last week.
“Someone has been placing rocks like this all across the Crescenta Valley for walkers to find,” Lawler said. “Each one has a unique message of hope and cheer.”
Lawler could provide no more information about the rocks or their origins, instead challenging the City of Santa Clarita: “I saw a similar phenomenon going on in Santa Clarita. Ours look better than theirs, though.”
Local business and community authorities were not available for comment. If anyone has any information about these rocks or other acts of community kindness, please contact CV Weekly at robin@cvweekly.com.
