Rosemont Preserve Open Gate Afternoon

Two “open gate” events are taking place at the Rosemont Preserve. The first is on Sunday, April 20. Photographers: bring your camera and citizen scientists, bring your iNaturalist app to add to the wildlife sightings.

The gate will be open from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and interns from Arroyos & Foothills Conservancy will be available to answer questions and present this community resource.

Then on Sunday, April 21, the gate will be open from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friends of the Rosemont Preserve Committee members will be available to answer questions.

The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, please park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave. Those planning on walking the trails should wear sturdy shoes. 

This event is free to the public and suitable for all ages; no reservations required. Rain cancels. Sorry, no pets please.

CVTC Meeting

The general meeting of the Crescenta Valley Town Council is tonight, Thursday, at 7 p.m. at the La Crescenta Library community room.

Cross-Jurisdictional Meeting of  CVCA

The Crescenta Valley Community Association will have its monthly meeting on Thursday, April 25 at 6:30 p.m. The CVCA is a cross-jurisdictional, volunteer organization that encourages collaboration between community groups so that the Crescenta Valley can be represented with one voice. 

All are invited to the community room at the La Crescenta Library at 2809 Foothill Blvd. (entrance off La Crescenta Avenue).

Strategic Partners Meeting Planned

The next meeting of the Strategic Partners Network is Friday, April 26 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at USC-VHH. Hakop Eulmessekian will be the guest speaker.

Eulmessekian is the director of Student Support Services for Glendale Unified School District.

BINGO FUNDRAISER

The Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge is hosting a bingo night on Friday, April 26 at the Center. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with first game at 6:30 p.m. All ages welcome with adult supervision. The cost is $20 per player; barbecue meal available for purchase from 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. for $10.

CVWD BOARD ANNOUNCES VACANCY

The Crescenta Valley Water District board of directors announced it has a vacancy created by the resignation of director Michael L. Claessens, effective May 15. It will be filled by appointment
by the board within 60 days of the effective date. The appointment will be for the remainder of the term of office ending on December 4, 2020 and
will be considered at a future board meeting.

Any person appointed to the office of director must be a resident and registered voter within the boundaries of the CVWD.

Interested parties must submit a letter of interest and a resume. Letters of interest and resumes should be personally delivered or mailed to: Nemesciano Ochoa, general
manager at the district office at 2700 Foothill Blvd. in La Crescenta. Deadline for submissions is Monday, May 6, at noon.
